Nicole Johnson granted R100 000 bail on wedding anniversary after three years in prison

Nicole Johnson, the wife of alleged 28s gang boss, has been granted R100 000 bail on the same day as her wedding anniversary after spending three years inside prison. The decision was made today at the Cape High Court with strict bail conditions. Eric Ntabazalila, the Regional Communications Officer for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), confirmed it: “Bail granted. Accused to pay R100 000 on conditions.” Advocate Bruce Hendricks of Hendricks Harmse Attorney, who is legal counsel for Johnson, said they were delighted as it was the wedding anniversary of his client and her husband, Ralph Stanfield. “After a long wait for her release, Mrs Johnson finally got bail today in the amount of R100 000 with some conditions. "After spending three years in custody at Pollsmoor Correctional Centre, we as a legal team are delighted that bail was finally granted so that she can be at home tonight. We are looking forward to the trial that starts in October so Mrs Johnson can finally prove that she is innocent and to be here now for the anniversary of her and her husband, Ralph Stanfield. Stanfield and his wife, Nicole Johnson, along with their co-accused, face 41 charges under the Prevention of Organised Crime Act (POCA), including murder, attempted murder, fraud, illegal possession of firearms, unlawful ammunition, and conspiracy to commit murder. Image: Supplied In June last year, City former Mayco member Malusi Booi and his nine co-accused, including alleged 28s gang boss Ralph Stanfield and his wife Nicole Johnson, had charges relating to R1bn housing tender fraud withdrawn. Stanfield is still imprisoned and facing trial and had lost an application where he challenged his transfer from Pollsmoor Prison to Brandvlei and Helderstroom prisons. He claimed he was being held in solitary confinement. Johnson's bail was denied three times according to Hendricks and the Supreme Court of Appeal denied her access.
