Adams was arrested by the Political Killings Task Team and is believed to be in transit to KwaZulu-Natal in connection with allegations of fraud and obstructing justice linked to the murder of Sindiso Magaqa, SABC News reported. Hendricks said the legal team is still unsure of Adams’ whereabouts. ‘We don’t know where he is… we are not aware of where Mr Adams is currently,‘ he said, according to the report. He added that Adams has only been issued a notice of rights and has not yet been formally processed. He explained that Adams must first be formally charged before appearing in court, noting that ‘unless they do that very quickly… he will be appearing tomorrow.‘ Adams, who had previously failed to hand himself over despite arrangements with his lawyer, denied wrongdoing and claimed he was unaware of the charges. He also alleged he could be mistreated in custody, saying he might ‘be assaulted‘ or ‘probably waterboarded.‘ In earlier interviews, Adams questioned the police’s actions, arguing he is not accused of a violent crime and suggesting the case may be linked to his possession of classified police information used in complaints against officers. He said the matter is now before the Western Cape High Court, where the legality of the warrant and police conduct will be challenged.
